My name is Isabelle and my Yugtun name is Arnayagaq. My parents named me after a relative that passed way. It is a common Yup'ik custom to name an infant after someone who has passed on. The names are not gender specific. I grew up in a small Eskimo village of 500 in southwest Alaska. Eventually I moved to the largest town in the area with a population of 6,000. This is where I met my husband and raised our 7 kids. The language I grew up speaking is Yup'ik and English is my 2nd language. One reason I'm glad my first language is Yup'ik is because I am able to communicate with elders that don't know how to speak English.
This is a contact page with some basic contact information and a contact form.
My relationship to art is through capturing pictures of our Nature or just random pictures. I do not play any instrument or I have ever participated in a theater. When I was in high school I participated in making a film. I think that Eskimo dancing can be considered as performing because you have an audience.
